NJHS Logo

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle school students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character, and Citizenship. Chapter membership recognizes students for their accomplishments and challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

Requirements for Admission

Scholarship
Students must be in 7th or 8th grade or the second semester of 6th grade and have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5. Students with a history of the discipline, level 3 or 4 from grades 6-8, will not be considered.

Leadership
Student leaders are resourceful, good problem-solvers, promoters of school activities, idea contributors, dependable, and persons who exemplify positive attitudes about life. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.

This quality is defined through the voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation and with a positive, courteous, and enthusiastic spirit. Members must complete a minimum of 15 hours of community service hours annually, 5 of which must be done within school.

Candidates will be selected on their ability to demonstrate and uphold these standards.
